60% of cars sold in Norway last Month were electric Vehicle

Electric cars are common in Norway.


  1. Almost two-third of new cars sold in Norway in September (2020)were electric

  2. when hybrid are included,the total jumps up to 89%.

  3. Norway leads the World in the % of electric & hybrid cars on its road.

  4. for Norwegian good news,now Govt is reducing the tax breaks that have fueled the electric boom.

Norway's electric car market is powering ahead,with most new cars being registered either fully hybrids or electric cars


Shock to the market:


It's a trend that looks set to continue. The latest data shows that mid-August statistics:

a.) 16,427-cars sales,

b.) 27 g/km=CO2

c.) Vehicle stock,5,638,787)


fully electric cars have already accounted,as more than 65% of sales.


Norway has long been greet as a leader in the race to adopt electric cars, & it provides many incentives & benefits,including big reductions in purchase & road tax.For those who buy & drive them.Electric cars also enjoy cuts of at least 50% parking,toll road & ferry charges.


The Road Ahead:


Norway's goal is for all new cars sold in the country after 2025 to be electric.And as its plan continues to pick up speed.

From next year, it will increase the road tax rate for electric vehicles--which currently benefit from discount of up to 90%,the same as for motorcycles.


Cost --Competitive:


Electric vehicles will still cheaper to own than fossils-fuel cars.Analysis of monthly cost of owning a car,averaged over a four year period,shows that in "Norway a mid-sized electric car would be cost $883 a month" against of $1,002 for petrol & $ 1,075 for diesel.The figure include fuel,depreciation,taxes,insurance & maintenance
