"GREEN HOUSE GASES" (GHG) denote as type of gas.Greenhouse gases are type of gases that first of absorbs of infrared radiation & then in fact emit thermal radiation back.

In the absence of green house effect,this planet would have been much colder & typically for the human race to survive,as an increase in the number of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere result in the green house effect,which ultimately leads to global warming.

The planet Earth receives spacious quantum of sunlight from the sun.

of the total sunlight received,tentatively 30% gets reflected back to space by clouds,ice,snow,sand & other reflective sources(NASA).The balance 70% of the solar radiation is observed by the oceans,the lands,the atmosphere.

This is the reason that the earth remains warm even after the sun has gone down as it has absorbed a lot of energy from the sun.

During the night,the Earth's surface cools down by emit infrared radiation,but before this radiation can emit back into space,the get absorbed by green house

gases in the atmosphere,which makes the atmosphere warmer.This is the reason,why the earth remains warm,which makes it possible for humans to survive.

There are a number of different green house,the primary ones of Earth being Ozone(the layers that protect us & the rest of the world from sun's most harmful radiation are:

1.Methane

2.Carbon dioxide

3.Water Vapor

with all of these greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere.
